Pedal won’t power. What to do?
The most common reasons for a pedal not powering, in no particular order.
- check polarity
- check continuity over each PWR pin
- check continuity over each GND pin
- check if there is a short between PWR and GND
If the PWR isĀ less than desired this gets nasty really quick, but likely one of the following
- faulty component
- wrong component
- reverse polarity of component
To test these its best to isolate stages of the pedal. You can do this by:
- Isolating pins of components
- using an audio test probe or oscilloscope to see what stage is failing on
- read all know bias voltages
- test continuity between bias and PWR
- test continuity between bias and GND
